The Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Education Directorate in the Bono East Region has issued a strong warning against examination malpractice during the ongoing 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), stressing that offenders will face severe consequences.
Municipal Education Director, Mr. Isaac Budu, made the remarks during a media briefing on the second day of the examinations, following monitoring exercises across the municipality.

According to him, a total of 2,105 candidates—comprising 1,050 males and 1,055 females—from 53 public and 33 private schools are sitting the exams at nine designated centres.
Mr. Budu disclosed that 10 candidates were absent as of the second day. He also noted that among the candidates are three nursing mothers and two pregnant students.

He emphasized that the directorate has put in place stringent measures to prevent malpractice, including a ban on foreign materials at all examination centres.
“For the past eight years, examination malpractice has been a major challenge in this municipality and the country at large. This year, there will be no room for such practices,” he stated.
Mr. Budu further cautioned that both students and invigilators found culpable would face legal action, including possible imprisonment.
He added that monitoring would be intensified, particularly on key examination days such as Mathematics and Integrated Science, to ensure compliance with the rules.
The directorate expressed confidence that the strict enforcement measures will help uphold the integrity of the examination process in the municipality.
