The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has dismissed demands from the Minority in Parliament to publish a load management timetable in response to ongoing power outages, commonly known as “dumsor.”
In a statement released on Monday, the Ministry, through its Spokesperson and Head of Communications, Richmond Rockson, Esq., said Ghana’s current power generation capacity is sufficient to meet the country’s electricity needs, even during peak hours.
“While we recognize that the distribution system we inherited faces significant challenges, the government and power sector stakeholders are actively working to resolve these issues permanently,” the statement said.
The Ministry emphasized that there is no need for a load-shedding timetable at this time.
Again, It explained that the available power generation capacity can handle peak demand without requiring scheduled outages.
“The current power generation capacity is enough to meet peak demand; therefore, there is no justification for a load-shedding timetable at this time,” the Ministry added.
The statement from the Ministry of energy assured Ghanaians that efforts to fix distribution problems and maintain consistent power delivery remain a top priority.
“The Government remains dedicated to providing reliable electricity to the people of Ghana,” the statement concluded.
