President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to combating corruption during his second term in office.
Speaking in a nationwide address reflecting on his first 120 days back in power, the President outlined ongoing investigations into multiple high-profile corruption cases and pledged continued accountability across all levels of government.
President Mahama highlighted several key probes currently underway, signaling a robust and transparent approach to governance.
He revealed that the Ministry of Health is actively reviewing the Auditor General’s report on COVID-19 expenditures, with appropriate actions to follow upon completion. The controversial Sputnik V vaccine procurement scandal is also under thorough investigation.
In addition, the Ministry of Finance has launched an inquiry into the recent collapse of indigenous banks and financial institutions. “Make no mistake,” the President warned declaring “facts will be unearthed, culprits punished, and lessons learned.”
Also, President Mahama noted that the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has commenced investigations into the PDS scandal, while Deloitte and Touche have been commissioned to conduct an independent audit of the National Cathedral Project, with a report expected by the end of May.
President Mahama further disclosed that several officials have been summoned and questioned regarding irregularities in the organization of the 13th African Games.
Again, On April 30, 2025, the Attorney General filed 11 charges against a former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau and others for various offenses linked to corruption”, Mahama remarked.
The President emphasized the role of the Office of the Presidential Advisor on Corruption, which continues to receive and process complaints and reports of graft.
“The office of the presidential advisor on corruption will continue to receive complaints and reports regarding graft for onward transmission to the attorney general building on the success of the oral mechanism which received over 2,000 complaints in just a few weeks”.
President Mahama reiterated that the fight against corruption extends beyond recovering stolen assets from previous administrations.
“We will also ensure that our own appointees serve Ghanaians responsibly and are held to the highest standards of accountability,” he stated.
