The Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has rejected reports that former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, was shot during an incident at the church’s property at Kwabenya on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the leadership of the mission described the shooting claims circulating on social media as false and misleading, and called on the public to allow the appropriate authorities to investigate the matter.
According to the mission, the incident occurred after a lawful church event was held at the premises, when Ms Adwoa Safo arrived at the venue and allegedly drove her vehicle forcefully into the entrance gates of the property.
The church claimed the impact caused substantial damage to two metallic gates at the entrance.
The statement said several worshippers and invited guests were present at the time, including people seated near the entrance, adding that the incident created a risk to the safety of attendees.
“Security personnel on duty intervened to prevent further escalation and to protect persons gathered at the event,” the statement said.
The mission also denied reports that Ms Adwoa Safo was shot by her brother during the incident, describing such claims as an attempt to create a false impression of a gunshot injury.
“To the best of our knowledge and based on information presently available to us, no such shooting occurred,” the statement said.
The church leadership urged the public to avoid drawing conclusions from unverified social media reports and encouraged law enforcement agencies to establish the facts through due process.
The development comes amid reports surrounding the installation of Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I, son of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, as the new leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana.
The mission said it remains committed to peace, truth, the rule of law and ensuring the safety of all persons who attend its events.
