The Supreme Court has deferred its rulings on embattled Member of Parliament for Akwatia Ernest Yaw Kumk’s request for restraining orders and reversal of his contempt conviction to June 11 because “the Court has been occupied these few days.”
The panel of five presided over by Justice Gabriel Pwamang was to decide on whether proceeding at the Koforidau High Court which led to the MP been convicted for Contempt was lawful.
The applicant through his lawyers filed separate applications among other things seeking want a restraining order against the judge and also quashing of his proceedings in the Court on his conviction for Contempt.
When the matter was called, on Wednesday, April 30, the presiding Judge, Justice Pwamang said the rulings of the Court were not ready and has to adjourn them.
“Unfortunately the court has been occupied these past few days and we’ve not concluded our judgment, so bear with us to give an adjournment,” he said.
The case was subsequently adjourned to June 11, 2025. Ernest Yaw Kumi was present at the Apex Court.
