New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for Nandom, Lawyer Sylvester Isang, has proposed a package of interventions targeting healthcare and education as part of his development agenda for the constituency.
The proposals include free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration and renewals for vulnerable residents, a medical support fund for vulnerable patients and an expansion of scholarship opportunities for Nandom students.
They form part of Mr Isang’s “Nandom Agenda: Possible Together”, an eight-point action plan unveiled as he seeks the NPP’s parliamentary nomination ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Under the health component, Mr Isang proposes establishing a medical support fund to absorb part or all of the medical expenses of vulnerable patients.
He also proposes free NHIS registration and renewal for vulnerable people, alongside motivation packages aimed at improving the welfare and retention of health workers.
The plan further proposes support for the development and improvement of health infrastructure across the municipality.
Mr Isang also wants to establish a network of Nandom health professionals to support medical outreach programmes, capacity building and human-resource development, while collaborating with Nandom professionals in the diaspora to sustain and expand support for healthcare delivery.
In education, the aspirant proposes expanding scholarship support beyond Law, Engineering and Medicine to cover students pursuing other accredited tertiary programmes.
He also proposes supporting the FIC Brothers, the Catholic Church and other Christian churches with funding to assist needy but brilliant students.

Other proposals include establishing a Best Teacher Award Scheme, introducing additional teacher motivation initiatives, including career development and progression support, and expanding a Best Student Award Scheme across all educational levels.
Mr Isang’s education agenda also includes annual quiz competitions for basic and senior high schools within the municipality and continued provision of one-hot meals and examination materials for BECE candidates during examinations.
He proposes building a network of Nandom professionals at home and in the diaspora to mobilise resources and expertise in support of education.
The plan also includes a “Freshers Support Initiative” aimed at supporting newly admitted SHS and university students within the constituency.
The proposals complement Mr Isang’s existing scholarship and social support activities, which he has previously described as part of his personal commitment to helping vulnerable Nandome.
The health and education proposals form part of a broader agenda covering agriculture, employment, social protection, water and sanitation, culture, traditional leadership and ICT.
Mr Isang has presented the agenda under the theme “A Stronger Nandom | A Brighter Future | Together We Can”, with “Development, Inclusion, Opportunity for All” as one of its central messages.
