The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has announced the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the ministry and Sentuo Group Limited aimed at strengthening Ghana’s agro-industrial sector.
The agreement, formalised on Tuesday at the Ministry in Accra, is expected to drive large-scale agro-processing, improve value addition to agricultural products, and support the establishment of fertilizer manufacturing facilities across the country.
According to the minister, the partnership forms part of a broader national agenda championed by President John Dramani Mahama to accelerate agricultural industrialisation and modernisation.
Mr Opoku noted that the initiative is designed to reposition Ghana’s agricultural sector by shifting from the export of raw commodities to a more integrated agro-industrial economy.

“The overarching goal is to transition Ghana into a robust agro-industrial economy that promotes value addition, enhances productivity, and ensures greater economic self-sufficiency,” he stated.
The collaboration is also expected to create employment opportunities and strengthen the country’s capacity to process its own agricultural produce, reducing dependence on imports while boosting local industry.
The Ministry said further details on implementation timelines and project rollout would be communicated in due course.
