The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has distributed 40,000 bags of inorganic fertilizers and advanced agricultural drones to the Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana as part of efforts to strengthen food production and achieve national food security.
The initiative forms part of the government’s Feed Ghana Programme, aimed at supporting farmers, increasing agricultural productivity, and transforming the country’s agriculture sector.

In a statement shared on Facebook, Minister for Food and Agriculture Eric Opoku said the intervention demonstrates government’s commitment to empowering farmers and recognising their contribution to economic growth and development.

He said the support package is part of broader measures to improve access to agricultural inputs and modern technology for farmers across the country.

According to the Minister, the Ministry is expected to complete the distribution of about one million bags of fertilizers to farmers in all 276 agricultural constituencies nationwide.
He added that an additional 8,000 cartons of organic fertilizers have also been allocated to farmer groups, vegetable producers, and irrigation schemes to further enhance productivity.
Beneficiary groups for the organic fertilizer support include the Abokobi Vegetable Production Cooperative, FarmMate vegetable production, Michel Camp Co-operative Women Farmers Society Limited, English Amanfrom, Amen-Amen Institute, Adenta Vegetable Production Cooperative, and the ICOUR Tono Irrigation Scheme.
Mr. Opoku reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving the Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda, expressing confidence that collective efforts among stakeholders would help improve food production and strengthen Ghana’s agricultural sector.
He said the interventions are part of measures to create a more productive and resilient agricultural system that supports farmers and contributes to national development.
