The Upper East Region has recorded 370 development projects since 2025, spanning education, health, agriculture, roads, water and sanitation, and other key sectors, Regional Minister Akamugri Donatus Atanga has disclosed.
The projects comprise 253 physical projects implemented through the region’s 15 Municipal and District Assemblies, 15 24-Hour Economy Markets and 102 GETFund projects.
Mr Atanga disclosed this on Friday, August 14, 2026, during President John Dramani Mahama’s Accounting to the People Regional Tour in Bolgatanga.
He said 90 education projects were at various stages of completion, alongside 61 health infrastructure projects.
Health interventions include the upgrading of the War Memorial Hospital in Navrongo, establishment of a medical school at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, a modern referral hospital in Bawku and a Regional Teaching Hospital in Bolgatanga.
In agriculture, 7,569 farmers have benefited from fertiliser distribution under the Feed Ghana Programme, while 252 farmers have received 9,500 birds under the Nkoko Nketenkete Initiative.

The region has also identified 24,475 acres of land with irrigation potential, with efforts underway to complete or rehabilitate the Tamne, Tono and Vea irrigation schemes.
On roads, Mr Atanga said 273.35 kilometres of feeder roads had been awarded, with 63.66 kilometres completed, while another 34 kilometres are being undertaken under the Big Push Programme.
He also identified the proposed Bolgatanga Regional Airport as a key priority, saying it could improve connectivity, attract investment and unlock the region’s economic potential.
Job creation, he said, had also received attention, with 1,953 people recruited under the Youth Employment Agency, 2,025 under the Skills Development Programme, 627 under Adwumawura and 1,092 under the One Million Coders Programme.
Mr Atanga said the Regional Coordinating Council would continue to work with the 15 assemblies, traditional authorities and development partners to accelerate development and strengthen accountability to residents.
