The Upper West Region has taken a significant step toward strengthening public education and government communication following the presentation of two state-of-the-art mobile cinema vans to the Information Services Department (ISD).
The presentation was made on Thursday by the Upper West Regional Minister, Charles Lwanga Puozuing Esq., who officially received the fully equipped vehicles on behalf of the region before handing them over to the Regional Director of the Information Services Department for deployment.
According to the Regional Minister, the new mobile cinema vans will play a vital role in bridging the communication gap between government and citizens by bringing information directly to communities across the region.

He explained that the modern vehicles are multi-purpose broadcasting units capable of live transmissions, streaming national television programmes—including live feeds from GTV—and broadcasting major national events such as parliamentary proceedings to communities, schools, and other public spaces.
Beyond the mobile cinema vans, the Minister disclosed that districts across the Upper West Region will also receive desktop computers and megaphones to strengthen local public information and announcement systems.
To demonstrate the capabilities of the new facilities, the Minister announced that the vans would immediately be deployed to screen the upcoming football match between Ghana and Colombia for members of the public.
One of the vans will be stationed at the Wa Naa Palace grounds, while the second will be positioned at the Tindamba Primary Model JHS Park, allowing football enthusiasts to enjoy the match free of charge.

Mr. Puozuing indicated that after the pilot exercise, the vans would be strategically deployed to busy public spaces, including markets and community centres, to educate residents on government programmes, development initiatives, and other matters of national importance.
He further revealed that the Regional Coordinating Council will work closely with the Ghana Tourism Authority and the Information Services Department to develop a comprehensive deployment schedule to ensure every district in the Upper West Region benefits from the new communication facilities.

The Regional Minister called on residents to take good care of the equipment, stressing that the investment reflects government’s commitment to transparency, public education, and community engagement.
The acquisition of the mobile cinema vans is expected to significantly enhance public access to timely, accurate, and reliable information while promoting citizen participation in national development across the Upper West Region.
