The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has presented ICT equipment to the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) to strengthen the Commission’s operational capacity.
The support, made up of 10 laptops and 10 desktop computers, followed a formal request by NACOC and was facilitated through the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC). The intervention forms part of government’s broader digitalisation drive to equip state institutions with tools to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
Presenting the items on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 in Accra, the Minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting public institutions with modern digital infrastructure.
He said the equipment would improve NACOC’s efficiency and effectiveness in carrying out its mandate, stressing that the support marked the beginning of sustained assistance rather than a one-off gesture.
The Minister commended the Administrator of GIFEC, Mr. Sofo Tanko Rashid-Computer, and his team for responding promptly to the request despite limited resources.
Receiving the equipment, NACOC Director-General, Brigadier General Maxwell Obuba Mantey, thanked the Minister and GIFEC for the timely intervention, noting that the computers would significantly enhance staff productivity and operational effectiveness.
He assured that the equipment would be used responsibly to advance NACOC’s work, particularly in combating illicit drug trafficking and related crimes, and called for continued inter-agency collaboration to strengthen national security and good governance.
